I’m big enough to admit an error when found, but…. still throw out the first run

OK, someone gently suggested my first run was wrong, so I kept digging on how and why. This morning after manually checking the results for errors, I came across that the Cal-Washington match from 4/26 was somehow entered into the database twice. I have no idea how that happened. Anyhow, it obviously makes a tremendous impact on Cal, considering that would substitute a win over #70 with #26 in their best nine.

With that adjustment, here’s the first run…

1 University of Southern California
2 University of Georgia
3 University of Virginia
4 UCLA
5 Ohio State University
6 University of Kentucky
7 Pepperdine
8 Duke University
9 Mississippi State University
10 University of Oklahoma
11 Stanford University
12 University of Florida
13 University of Mississippi
14 California
15 North Carolina
16 University of Illinois
17 Auburn University
18 University of Tennessee

But here’s the second run….

1 University of Southern California
2 University of Virginia
3 University of Georgia
4 UCLA
5 Ohio State University
6 University of Kentucky
7 Duke University
8 Pepperdine
9 Mississippi State University
10 University of Oklahoma
11 Stanford University
12 University of Florida
13 University of Mississippi
14 California
15 University of Illinois
16 North Carolina
17 Auburn University
18 University of Tennessee

Obviously they are very similar, but UVA jumps UGA. The first run makes more sense to use in the seedings again because of the flip-flops of Duke-Pepperdine and Illinois-North Carolina, but what about Virginia?

The whole 15-18 is strange because Tennessee has defeated Auburn who defeated North Carolina who defeated Illinois. Why wasn’t Auburn allowed to jump UNC for a hosting spot?

Anyhow? Here’s the entire corrected list.

1 University of Southern California 27 1 86.90
2 University of Virginia 24 1 77.02
3 University of Georgia 23 2 76.46
