Hilltopper Men’s Tennis inks Katy’s Agoglia

AUSTIN – St. Edward’s head men’s tennis coach Russell Sterns is pleased to announce the addition of Maximo Agoglia to the 2012-13 recruiting class.

Agoglia has competed the past four years at Cinco Ranch High School in Katy, Texas for head coaches Colin Harvey and Richard May. Agoglia was a four-time district champion. In 2011, he finished third in Class 5A in singles and compiled a 46-6 doubles record. Agoglia was ranked seventh in the state in 14’s, #16 in state in 16’s, and currently #15 in 18’s.

“I am very happy to have signed Max Agoglia from Katy, Texas,” Sterns said. “Max is ranked in the top 20 in the state in under 18’s division and had a very good senior year playing high school and advancing to the state Class 5A singles competition. Max is also very solid academically and should be a good fit for our University. In seeing Max at junior tournaments, I was very impressed with his consistency, his athleticism and court demeanor, and of course it doesn’t hurt that he is left-handed. I think Max can immediately step in and contribute in the middle to top of our lineup.”
